Building a Feature Flagging Culture
The culture around feature flagging is something important to myself and the team, but if you are starting on the journey it can be hard to get...
I had an absolute blast attending DDD Adelaide recently! It's always great to be part of a community where developers come together to share ideas, learn new things, and get inspired.
One of the highlights for me was presenting my talk, "Houston, We Have a Deployment!" Deploying new features can sometimes feel a bit daunting, but it doesn't have to be a nerve-wracking experience.
During the talk, we dove into the nitty-gritty of feature management. It's more than just flipping switches on features—it's about involving everyone in the process:
We explored strategies for planning and rolling out features smoothly, making sure everything runs like clockwork.
What's a tech talk without some live demos and code? We walked through practical examples of a new way to manage features that could really shake up our development process. And for a bit of fun (and to keep things interesting), llamas made an appearance! There might have been a minor mishap involving something catching fire—but hey, it was all part of the excitement!
This brings me to Featureboard, a cool product by Arkahna that ties into everything we discussed. Featureboard is a feature management platform that makes life easier for both developers and product owners. Here's what it offers:
With Featureboard, handling feature rollouts becomes a breeze, helping teams work smarter, not harder.
Being at DDD Adelaide was awesome. The energy was contagious, and I loved chatting with fellow developers. Whether we were swapping stories over coffee or diving deep into tech discussions, it was a reminder of why I love being part of this community.
Deploying new features doesn't have to be stressful. With the right tools and a collaborative approach, we can make the process smooth and even enjoyable. I'm excited about what tools like Featureboard mean for the future of development.
A huge shoutout to the DDD Adelaide organizers for putting together such a fantastic event. If you haven't been before, I highly recommend checking it out next year. Can't wait to see where we go from here!
